Chickens
It is Fast Sunday today
and 5:00 is almost here. The time we meet together as Senior
missionaries and have a break the fast dinner. Looking forward to that!
For several months we
didn't have many birds here but in the past month they all seem to have
returned. Sometimes in the middle of the night, about 2ish I wake up and
wonder why I did, then I hear all the birds and think that is probably the
reason. Really, it isn't just a few, it sounds like a whole flock sitting
in the tree just outside our window. The rainy season has started here
once again, not in full force but it has rained every few days for a couple
weeks now.
This week I have
pictures of chickens. We passed this truck on the way home from work, not
sure if you can see but each cage is full of chickens and when there are that
many, they just sit there and don't move much.
Friday we were in a
small town and walked by the market. One woman had these chickens in
baskets out for sale. What a great way to transport chickens!
The CCM screening was
this week, we have only two more left before we come home. There have been
fewer and fewer English speaking missionaries here, in two weeks we
will be down to two Elders. I am sure the numbers are down because of
school back in the States and after graduation starting in June we will have a
lot more. Here is a picture of Dad taking an x-ray on one of the Latino
sisters.
This next week we are
going to Costa Rica with some other couples for a few days and won't be home
until late Sunday night, so my email will be a day or two late.
In the K'ekchi language
they don't say "How are you?", they say " How is your
heart?". Ma sa la chool? (Spelled phonetically). I
thought that was a neat thing to ask, meaning how is your soul, your
disposition, or something similar. Sa man tiox' (x is pronounced sh) is
their answer. Good, Thank you......so, How are your hearts??
Love, MOM/Grammy
