Happy Sunday Everyone,
It has
been a pretty normal week here. It is the rainy season so we have rain
everyday, sometimes more than once. We had a real thunderstorm the other
day while we were at work. We heard a crack, our lights went out and then we heard
the thunder, it must have been very close. Luckily we have a generator at
the Clinic. It looks a lot like a chest type freezer. The guys got it going and
we were able to finish our patients for the day. Then we locked up and went
home. We found out later the power was out until about 9:00 that
night. In Cache Valley that isn't a real problem because it is light
until about 9:00, but here where it is dark at about 6:30 each
night, a lot of people just went to bed early. So glad we had that generator!!
I have
been trying for a while to get a picture of this statue but they usually have
water spraying on all side of it while makes it look a little fuzzy when you
try to take a picture. We see it everyday on the way to work, Larry calls
it the Ammon statue. Can you guess why??
I am still
taking pictures of pickup trucks full of various things. This one has 10
people in the bed and 2 in the front, though you may not be able to see them
all. They were just heading down the road, no problem.
This street
is so colorful I decided I need to capture a few of them on my camera. I
wouldn't call this graffiti, it is more like art. I think a lot of time
and talent went into this one. I will send more when I get them.
Last week I
promised some pictures from the little branch we went to last week here they
are.
You will notice I start with a pickup truck full of people again.
They call them Fletes (flatas), long "a's". There were
two that Sunday delivering people to church and these are all the
people who were in the first one.
The Bishops family was really neat,
four boys, this picture is of them and their mother.
These two young men
with me are working on getting their mission papers completed. We
screened them at the Jornada the day before.
This
Tuesday morning we have a special meeting with all the Elders and Sisters
in the city missions. Elder Renlund is going to speak to the group.
Dad and I were counting up the Apostles that have been here since we
came. Elders Christensen, Rasband and now Renlund and Oaks was here just
before we got here. Pretty amazing in an eight month
period.
For all
you who knew Kresha Peterson, our dear neighbor who kept horses in our pasture
for several years, she passed away yesterday after a pretty long fight with
cancer. We feel so bad about that, she was such a dear person! She
and Brian have three children, oldest daughter has been married for a few years
and was living in California. Their son, Tye has been home from his
mission for a few years and youngest Samantha just turned 12. My heart
goes out to her especially. We are all so blessed to know where she is
now.
Dad and I
are eagerly awaiting news of our new granddaughters arrival. Hope all
goes well Tresha and JM! We love you!
May the
Lord bless and keep all of you. We are off to our Break the Fast dinner
at the Area Office with the other Senior Missionaries.
Love ya!! MOM,
Grammy
