Street Art and Vendors

It has been a busy Sunday!   It is 9:30 and I can finally sit down to write an email. We are in charge of FHE tomorrow night so Dad is brushing up on the fireside slideshow of our time on the Mercy.  We are getting a projector from the area office and will have FHE on the roof tomorrow night, that should be a fun change.

All is well here, we made it through the week with a few challenges.  Ellen, one of our front office ladies has been sick for a week and a half, they thought it was one of the viruses down here but it turns out it is a bad kidney infection. The other dentist, Dr. Harris, has been sick for several days with an intestinal problem.  So, we haven't been fully staffed, hope this week is better.

Thought I would share a few pictures.

Although we have lots of graffiti here, we also have some really amazing street art.  This is one wall we pass on the way to work.

This is a young girl at the clinic. She is 11 years old and her name is Kayla.  We just had to take a picture of her.

We see some really creative ways of transporting things here.  I imaging this truck was pretty full but hey, there is always room on the back bumper.

We buy bananas, strawberries and mangos as we are driving down a street nearby.  Dad has nicknamed this guy "grill".  Can you see why?  Enlarge the picture and look at his smile.  He is just one of the guys selling something on the streets.  There are many, many more selling all sorts of things and not just food.

It has been a really great week to become new grandparents once again!  We are super excited to have Lana Leigh join the Thunell/Hogge families.  Good job Tresha and JM.  I see her siblings are taking very good care of her.

Love you all and hope you are all enjoying your summer.   MOM, Grammy
